Always Focused on Car Enthusiasts: The History of Collinite from 1936 to Today
In 1936, the namesake Charles H. Collins founded the company. Mr. Collins was a sales representative for Gabriel Snubber Distribution, a company for auto parts and chemical products, in the 1920s. As a salesperson with a strong sense of customer satisfaction, Collins began developing his own formulas for industrial cleaners and waxes. He sold his products locally after losing his job at Gabriel Snubber Distribution during the Great Depression.
Throughout the decades, Charles advanced Collinite with his son Chuck. Customer satisfaction has always been at the forefront of all products. Expensive advertising, elaborate packaging, and exaggerated shows are not part of Collinite.
In 1983, Chuck Collins was looking for a successor and chose schoolteacher and photographer Mike Tylor. This was an extraordinary step, as Mike was not a businessman. However, he quickly proved to be the perfect fit, as Mike was able to generate enthusiasm for Collinite products and make Collinite known worldwide through "word of mouth".
Collinite Today: The Detailing Family Business
Since 2013, Collinite has been run by Mike Tylor's sons, Mark and Patrick. The brothers have divided the responsibilities: Mark handles sales, while Patrick focuses on production and product development. The purist web presence shows that Collinite has not lost any of its old charm and continues to be a family business in the detailing industry. You can see the brothers with their young children, already involving the next generation, in their arms on the phone and in the production and storage halls.
