Lake Country Manufacturing introduces the Standard Duty Orbital Pads - dubbed "SDO" - responding to the requests from many detailers. The idea was to utilize the high-quality foam from the HDO pads without the well-known underlayer. This manufacturing technique makes this popular foam attractive for budget-conscious buyers. It should be noted that heat build-up in modern Flex and Rupes rotary polishers remains low thanks to new drive and design generations.

Another key technology is provided by Lake Country with CCS, which stands for Collapsed Cell Structure. The surface of CCS features small pockets with a closed cell structure inside, even though the foam of the polishing pad is otherwise open-pored. This property allows for significantly more efficient use of polish with CCS pads. The polish enters the pocket but not the polishing pad, enabling much longer working times. At the same time, the cell structure is better cooled, preventing the pad from drying out from the polish itself. With the new SDO CCS pads, both technologies are available in a single pad series. The US manufacturer surprises the market, aligning the manufacturing costs of the pads with those of standard SDO pads.
